Bastards of the Party Documentary Showing
In an effort to deter gang violence, Young Visionaries
and The Brotherhood Rangi Ya Giza, a University of
Redlands student organization chose the University of
Redlands as the site for the area’s 2nd showing of
Bastards of the Party, a documentary chronicling the
history of Southern California's black street gangs, as
well as the toll the gang lifestyle takes on both
members and the community. A panel of former gang
members and law enforcement officials participated in a
discussion and Q & A after each of the evenings’ two
showings.

YV High Desert Division Expands to Barstow
Expanding the Young Visionaries’ service area to include
more of San Bernardino County was a primary goal to
start 2007. With the development of Young Visionaries’
High Desert Division and a partnership with San
Bernardino County Housing Authority, we have set our
sights and our service on the City of Barstow. Making a
new home at Barstow’s Bighorn Community Center YV
has hit the ground running, bringing structured after
school activities to a deprived HACSB community. And we
can proudly say it’s just the beginning.
